Rotary Clubs felicitate Rebound students of 2018-19 - 2nd Aug '19

Eight Rotary clubs from Thane and Navi Mumbai felicitated young students who participated in Rotary Youth Exchange Program in the year 2018-19. As a part of the program, the students went on a cultural exchange for one year during which they attended school and learned the culture of the host country by living with about three families during their yearlong stay. The students were felicitated in the hands of current District Governor of Rotary district 3142; Dr. Mohan Chandavarkar.

In his opening remarks, current chairman of RYE program; Rajendra Shinde informed that

12 students from D3142 participated in the program this year and went to 7 countries including Italy, Spain, Belgium, Denmark, France, Brazil and Mexico. Outgoing Chairman of the program, Ms. Resham Thanekar urged the gathering to wholeheartedly support this unique program by sending their children abroad under the program and also host the inbound students coming in exchange to live with us for one year. DG Dr. Mohan Chandavarkar; in his concluding remarks applauded the work being done under this program and urged the young students to join Rotract and then Rotary to serve the community.

Rotary International every year sends over 9000 students to various countries under RYE program for the youth to expose to world culture and work towards international understanding and peace. Students participated in this program in 2018-19 included Radhika Bendre, Siddharth Shah, Kavish Krishnakumar, Anoushka Matai, Gayatri Dayal, Sana Shah, Adhit Nair, Nachiket Gajora, Yashavardhan Agarwal, Omkar Dhumal, Heena Shevani and Himanshu Pawar. The clubs hosting the program were Rotary club of Thane Suburban, Thane Premium, Thane Lake City, Thane Skyline, Thane Uptown, Thane Downtown, Thane East and Navi Mumbai Garima.

Under Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) Program, a child from Rotary District from other country visits our district D 3142 for a year long stay. During the stay here, he/she lives with multiple families for about 3 to 4 months with each family. It is a wonderful experience not only for the exchange student but also for the host family to know more about each other's culture. Please visit www.rye3142.in to more about the program.

We are looking for volunteer families who are willing to host RYE student for about 3 to 4 months. Volunteering family will have to seek Police Character Certificate to participate. RYE administration team reserves the right to accept volunteering. Request you to fill up the form if you are interested in hosting a child.
