Rotary Youth Exchange District 3142
Rotary Youth Exchange (RYE) program is in implementation as part of Rotary International mission for International peace & understanding. The program is being implemented since 1929 and has sent young people around the globe to experience new cultures. Currently, about 9,000 students are sponsored by Rotary clubs every year. Typically, students in the age group of 15 to 19 are sent to another country for a year-long stay, generally living with multiple host families during the year and being expected to perform daily tasks within the household as well as attend school in the host country. Short term exchange programs on similar lines are also conducted which last for 6 to 8 weeks. Short term programs typically involve direct student exchanges between two families arranged through Rotary to coincide with major school holiday periods.
District 3142 comprises of industrial towns of the revenue district of Thane adjoining Mumbai; the financial capital of India. The district has more than 78 Rotary clubs and over 3000 Rotarians.
As a part of erstwhile D3140, the district has a rich experience in implementing of RYE program for the past several years. The district enjoys excellent relations with Rotary districts of various countries and in the past have placed number of students in Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Denmark, Czech Republic, USA, Brazil, Mexico, etc.
The district strictly follows Youth protection policies as per the guidelines of Rotary Internal for student safety and prevention of abuse and harassment of youth.
